| QIGONG
Pronounced Chee-gong it translates as energy-work.
Every posture from the taiji form can be
used as a qigong whether it is held static or linked with other
postures to make it a moving qigong. These qigongs can be
used to heal specific diseased states, for example Brush Knee Twist
Step when performed as a moving qigong heals the heart and when
held static heals the stomach (insert picture). There are many different
types of qigong not found in the form and the main ones taught in
class are:-
3 CIRCLE
This is a general balancing qigong, in that
it balances the energy levels within the body. It also works on
breaking down energy blockages in the energy system, these can be
caused by social and sexual hang-ups, trauma, bad posture or diet
etc. This is the first qigong we learn and one that we will practice
for the rest of our lives. This is a great way to learn to relax
the mind and body as most people try and use their muscular strength
to stand for long periods of time and find it is when they learn
to relax the muscles they do not need that they actually enjoy standing
and want to stand for longer. This also needs to be performed in
a meditative state where we try and clear our mental chatter,
this helps us to relax the mind releasing stress.
TRIPLE HEATER
This qigong balances Yin and Yang energy in
the body. There are 3 parts each one repeated 3 times. The first
balances the lower heater encompassing the sexual organs
and urinary system, the second works the middle heater
encompassing the digestive system while the third works the upper
heater encompassing the respiratory system (heart and lungs).
